The dbgrads system is a free service to the database community by ACM SIGMOD. The idea of putting together such a list came up during a meeting at the SIGMOD'99 conference.

The design and the implementation of the dbgrads system was done by Alexandros Labrinidis, then from the University of Maryland, College Park, now an assistant professor at the University of Pittsburgh. It is currently maintained by Rachel Pottinger and hosted by University of Pittsburgh

The following people helped improve/debug the system with their feedback: Alberto Mendelzon, Richard Snodgrass, Tolga Urhan, Byoung-Kee Yi, Ugur Cetintemel, Yannis Kotidis, Manuel Rodriguez, Mike Franklin, Cris Pedregal Martin, Sriram Padmanabhan.
